We Accomplished What The Physicists Couldn’t: Unification

Today, LBRY is announcing a dual release: LBRY Heisenberg (for Windows, macOS, and Linux) and LBRY Cartwheel (for Android). You can read more about each below, but the biggest change spreads across both:

You can now sync everything about your LBRY experience across all LBRY apps!

This is an absolute revolution in your LBRY experience. If you sign in, you can now have your balance, channels, subscriptions, followed tags, and more stay consistent across devices. If you uninstall LBRY, everything will still be there for you when you come back.

This brings the LBRY user-experience much closer to that of traditional centralized platforms in terms of the ability to simply sign in and have everything be just where it was when you were last using it. And we do this without the downsides of centralized platforms: you are still the only one with access to your keys and the only one who can make changes to your account. Each release contains a number of separate improvements as well, which are explained in more detail below.

• Unified experience across devices, installs, and computers.
  • Sign in on any computer and have your balance, subscriptions, tags, and other settings follow you. Or for maximal privacy and security, manually copy your wallet file around: most user settings and preferences are now written to your wallet. You can read more in the Account Sync FAQ.
• Comments on channel pages under Discussion tab.
• Keyboard shortcuts for the following actions
  • → to Seek Forward
  • ← to Seek Backward
  • f to Going Fullscreen
  • m to Mute/Unmute
• Markdown preview for comments and richer commenting
  • Basic text formatting (bold, italic, strike)
  • URL embeds, LBRY URL previews and channel mentions
  • Code blocks, inline code and blockquotes
  • Embed images and gifs
• Upgraded LBRY SDK to 0.43.2, which improves performance, fixes bugs, and adds support for some of the above features.
• GIFs now only animate when hovered over.
• Subscriptions no longer automatically download.
• A significant number of bug fixes.
